Serving Every Patient, Every Month
Compare the PrevMED Insurance Program with Fee-For-Service Dental Care
- Customized Treatment plans-level of care for each resident is determined at the time of the oral assessment by the dentist. All are proactive and comprehensive. The dentist can also do an oral cancer screen at this time.
- Monthly clinical treatments- some companies claim to “be in the nursing home every month” or “monthly patient visits” but they are not providing actual treatment on every patient every month; we are. This is key to the clinical efficacy of our program where we aim to mitigate instance of disease; monthly treatment for every patient is the only way to do this.
- Use of prescription products in addition with the professional cleanings- we are doing monthly fluoride varnishes, using MI paste when necessary, and recommending medication such as Doxycycline ,which is a low-dose plaque inhibitor. All work in conjunction with our professional treatments to provide maximum efficacy outcomes.
- Stocked “dob kits” of non-prescription infection control products specific for the individual needs of each patient- depending on whether they have natural teeth or dentures, we provide mechanical toothbrushes, toothpastes, rinses, denture cleaner, adhesive, dry mouth products, xylitol lozenges, etc and refill them each month. We work with the residents AND staff to help them utilize the products on a daily basis so they have the tools and knowledge how to help themselves when we’re not there. Best results are when daily care is delivered.
- Quarterly (or as needed) CNA/Nursing Staff In-Services- our dental professionals will provide 30 minute in-services for each shift as often as the facility would like to teach the importance of oral care in a geriatric mouth, how to help, what to look for, how to properly clean a denture, etc. Education is key to the success of our program. No cost for these in-services to facility.
- Annual Oral Screening-to help keep the facility in compliance with the QIS F-tags stating the home must now provide an annual oral assessment for all long-term care patients. Also included in our program, no cost to facility.
- Emergency response to pain- facility has access to a clinician for emergency response/triage
- No waiting period for approval – once resident is enrolled, there is one monthly fee that is always the same and covers any and all services delivered.
- A proactive approach – rather than a reactive approach; creating a paradigm shift in oral health care from a surgical to preventative approach.
- Use only the services you need – you don’t have to buy a whole package of services, some that you don’t need, to qualify for a “guarantee”
